Batten down the hatches for hurricane season.

Are you ready to level up your hurricane readiness in your lovely home?

Whether you're a rookie or a seasoned storm-chaser, we've got the scoop on how to not only survive but thrive during hurricane season.

Get ready to take shelter the right way because we're bringing you a fresh take on hurricane prep that's as fun as it is practical. Let's dive in and handle this hurricane season like pros!

Know the basics: What's the hurricane hubbub all about?

Between June and November, Mother Nature throws her wildest parties – hurricanes!

These mega-storms bring serious wind, buckets of rain and a whole lot of chaos. But fear not because we've got your back with a powerful plan to get your home hurricane-ready.

Take cues from the pros: Listen to local media and government agencies.

First things first, heed the advice of the experts. Tune in to local media and listen for government agencies' suggestions and updates on the storm.

They're like your personal team of advisors, keeping you in the loop about what's happening in your area. They’ll let you know when it’s time to leave your home and find a sturdier shelter.

If they tell you to evacuate, that means it’s time to leave.

Secure your sanctuary: You're the decision-maker in your home.

Remember, you're in charge of your space! You're responsible for safeguarding your rental home against possible damages. If you plan to evacuate before the storm hits, please follow these essential steps:

  • Turn off the main gas line to your home. Give your utility company a ring to get step-by-step instructions – they're your superhero sidekick in this mission.

  • Turn off the main water supply to your home. Again, your utility company has your back – just call and follow their guidance.

  • Head to your circuit breaker power panel and flip the main breaker lever to the "Off" position. This action cuts off all power to your panel and branch circuits.

Furry friends first: Keep your pets safe and sound

Pets are family, too! Grab your furry pals and bring them along, or take them to a pet shelter. You're their hero, and it's your duty to keep them safe and snug.

Prevent a toy tornado: Secure outdoor items.

Now's the time for a little outdoor tidying. Round up playhouses, small planters and anything else that could transform into a flying object during high winds.

Garage glamour: Park your vehicles safely

If you've got wheels, give them a shelter upgrade. Park your vehicles in the garage to shield them from flying debris or falling trees. You're not just a hurricane hero – you're a car protector, too!

Tag, you're safe: Let us know you’re on it.

Communication is key! If the authorities say you need to evacuate, shoot your Invitation Homes office a message before you leave. It's like giving them a virtual high-five – they'll know you're on top of things and taking charge of your safety.

Channel your inner storm expert!

You're now equipped with the ultimate hurricane playbook. From turning off utilities to securing your furry pals and even parking like a pro, you're ready to take on the storm.

Safety and style? You've got it all covered. So go out there and show Mother Nature who's boss! Remember, always follow local authorities’ advice and stay informed with the latest weather updates.
